The Festival Theme - WHO?
The International Mask Festival theme for 2007 is
based around the concept of Who?

Who am I?
This festival is about who we are and celebrates our differences and similarities in a profound, moving and playful way. The IMF is a unique festival celebrating the creation, performance and use of masks in theatre, education and therapy. Involving local, national and international practitioners renowned in their field, the IMF will deliver a standard of excellence, creating a platform for the mask, mask practitioners and audiences of all ages alike.

Who are they?
The festival centres around Footsbarn Travelling Theatre company from France who will be performing A Midsummer Nights Dream in Mask in English in their 400 seater Big Top.  You can work with international workshop leaders including John Wright, co-founder of Told by an Idiot and Trestle Theatre Company and renowned Balinese mask dancer Mas Soegeng. Geese Theatre will explore and demonstrate the therapeutic application of mask use.  Workshops for families will include paper mask making with Steven Jon and a host of exciting activities around the exhibition.

Who is that?
There will be an exhibition of over 150 masks collated from around the world, including some from participating theatre companies Footsbarn, Horse + Bamboo, Trading Faces and the Glasshouse Mask Centre, and also from Denato Sartori in Italy, and collections from Bali, Africa, Japan and Bhutan.

Who's behind it all?
Festival Director, Mike Chase gives us the background on how the festival came to fruition and his own thoughts and experiences with masks in 'The Man Behind The Mask'.
